Hi. Im new to this & hoping someone can help me. The postman delivered a letter addressed to my estranged husband today, i opened it & it is a ccj for £500. As it is addressed to my house, for which we have a joint mortgage im unsure as to what will happen. I have no contact with hi, he puts his half of the mortgage into the bank each month. I live in Northern Ireland. Any advice would help.

Northern Ireland law can be different so perhaps you should run this past:A confidential and independent scheme in Northern Ireland is Debt Action NI. This government funded service offers face to face advice in over 20 locations.

Presumably the claim form arrived a couple of months ago and you could not pass it on to him as you don't know where he lives.
It is OK for a creditor to take action at the last known address.
What happens next is up to the creditor. I believe you do not have bailiffs in NI, so the only thing that might happen is a charging order which wouldn't affect you at all (hmm - apart from converting joint ownership to tenants in common), and may not happen anyway for £500.0
