I went into my bank about six year ago and asked to open a current account so I could save a little but access it quickly, I was told yes but the account came with £1000 overdraft and £1000 credit card I said I didn't want it but he said that's what comes with the account so I had to have it if I wanted the account, was I mis sold the overdraft and credit card and if so what can I do?

Did you use the overdraft and credit card? If so, I take it you did so by your own choice, no one forced you to do so?0

If you didn't want the account you could have said "no thanks" and walked back out.TeluleyAffieNavy wrote: »I went into my bank about six year ago and asked to open a current account so I could save a little but access it quickly, I was told yes but the account came with £1000 overdraft and £1000 credit card I said I didn't want it but he said that's what comes with the account so I had to have it if I wanted the account, was I mis sold the overdraft and credit card and if so what can I do?
You weren't mis-sold anything by the sound of it. As Dogger69 asked, did you make use of the OD or card?0 -
They didn't 'sell' you anything, they just gave you the facility if you wanted it. If you didn't want it, you didn't have to use it and it wouldn't have cost you a penny.
So, no selling = no mis-selling.0 -
so what can I do?
Grow up and act like an adult and take responsibility for your actions.
Unless the bank clerk walked you into shops and forced you to spend the money you didnt have, then there is no case to answer.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). As RicharD1970 says the bank gave you facilities - credit available to you - you don't have to use it.
If you use the facilities you have to pay the appropriate fees and repayments but it's your choice. No misselling I'm afraid.0 -
I think we've hit an all-time low0
