I wanna diamond ring...

I'm looking at diamond rings & my head is spinning.
I've been looking at previous threads on here with advice on places to buy & types of stone etc. I wondered if anyone had used BlueNile.co.uk to buy from? Also as I will be in America in a few months, would it make more sense to buy there? If I did it would probably be from a jewellers shop, so with that mark-up plus customs duty would it still be the cheapest option?
Thanks

You can check the duty at the inland revenue website. Because if you do something naughty like wear it on the way in you could get a nasty fine especially if you have posted the receipt home.
You should go to a specialist like Tiffany as it is too easy to be ripped off with Diamonds.

I have found this site - miltonsdiamondsdotcom - and I was wondering if anyone has ever purchased anything from their site?
They seem to have a large selection so I am sure I will be able to find something that I like but I wanted to see if anyone else has used the site before I do.
Can you let me know your thoughts please??0 -
They look on the expensive side compared to blue nile. Have ytou looked at the blue nile website? I still hope that someone will post that has used them to let me know what they think...tinagreen1995 wrote: »I have found this site - miltonsdiamondsdotcom - and I was wondering if anyone has ever purchased anything from their site?

OK, I have recently bought a diamond ring and went to https://www.cooldiamonds.co.uk to buy my fiancee's engagement ring. Their service was immaculate and they are regulated by 3 different diamond producers which means that they are officially certified. Also, you can get a very good service by calling them with any questions. My fiancee has a tiny finger and they were bruilliant with their advice.0

Oh, and I have used bluenile and they were reasonably good, it's just that I had specific help needed and support (when the ring was the wrong size) and they were simply superb.0

Have you thought about going to Hatton Gardens in London? Or Antwerp, where they import most of the diamonds into Europe?Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0

We've just bought a diamond ring from Jewellery Catalogue http://www.jewellerycatalogue.co.uk/index.php. I cannot praise this company highly enough - their customer service is second to none.
I initially came across them while seaching on MSE for info on diamond rings. Having learnt about what to look for in a diamond, I decided to search around on websites folk here had suggested, eg Blue Nile, DiamondGeezer, Samara James, Amaplian, etc. Of these the most competitively priced were Jewellery Catalogue and Ampalian.
Having found the ring I wanted, I fired off some queries which were replied to very quickly. Hubby placed order, and from then on we were kept informed at every stage. We sent a million and one queries during the ordering process (ring had to be mage up as I wanted the advertised 18ct white gold ring in yellow gold instead). The best thing of all was that the diamond was actually of a higher grade than advertised on the website, but the price remained the same. Currently, all jewellery have valuation certificates included at no extra cost and my ring came with a certificate for the diamond too. Freebies included a polishing cloth and gift bag.
Incidentally, I looked up a similar ring on Ernest Jones and it costs nearly 3x what we paid for it from Jewellery Catalogue!!
