Ever been OWED money by a debt collection agency?

Last summer i bought a laptop from QVC on their flexipay credit. To cut a long story short i lost my job a few months afterwards, fell behind on flexipay and QVC referred my account to Moorcroft debt recovery, i arranged a repayment plan and as soon as i was back in work i did the responsible thing and called up Moorcroft and paid off the full amount from my first wage.
What i stupidly did not do was cancel the Direct Debit for the repayment plan to Moorcroft, i assumed Moorcroft would stop requesting payments and as i had paid debt in full no more DD requests would be made to my bank account, of course they did and now my account with Moorcroft is in credit -ie they owe me!
So to get my cashback i first emailed / wrote to Moorcroft as i prefer to do things in writing - surprise surprise no reply / response whatsoever. I have even contacted QVC to see if they could speak to Moorcroft, as they supply business to Moorcroft it is unlikely QVC would be ignored by them, no luck they 'could not help' which is fair enough i suppose since it was me who fell behind on flexipayments.
So now i have contacted Moorcroft via telephone and they are telling me that i will have to make a claim against my bank under the 'direct debit guarantee' to try to get my cash back, i am in the process of doing this and i fully suspect my bank to refer me back to Moorcroft and on and on.
Anyway all i wanted to say was that having read these forums many times you see how debt collection agency's can upset people and really bring people down but if you are in that situation remember - 1 - you did not take out debt you owe from the agency they are just a money making business they have no moral hold on you - your debt to the original company ends the second they decide to sell you to a collection agency , 2- imagine they owed you money - what do you think their attitude to YOU would be?
I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has been in a position of being owed money from one of these agency's.
Thanks for your time.

Blair, Oliver and Scott sent me a cheque after I overpaid a credit card debt a few years ago; something I hadn't actually noticed myself!
