Not so bad after all

First DMP payment is made, just waiting for it to be distributed. The reason for my post is that things are much better than I ever imagined.
We owe a shedload more than most people on this forum but I have contacted the creditors when I have letters and they have been really helpful. The people I have spoken to have all been nice, and I only wish we had done it sooner.
I think we need to remember that the person on the end of the phone is just another human being - several have mentioned about how they know that interest rate hikes are pointless etc. I was given all sorts of helpful advice by the Santander lady, so although the bank itself is a heap of asterisks there are some decent people that work for them.
I thought it was going to be terrible, and it isn't. I even spoke with someone from Lloydstsb today - on paper they are awful but person to person the human on the end of the line is helpful
If you are thinking of a DMP and are dreading it, please don't. Just remember that the letters are sent by Mr Computer Says "No" and it is OK.
All I need to know is why I didn't do it sooner. It needn't have got as bad as it did.

I spoke to three different departments from the dreaded Lloyds this week and they were all really nice, like you say, they are mean on paper, but quite nice on the phone, especially when I said I wanted to pay it off
Didn't have anything with the Spanish bank so can't comment there.
But I agree it's not as bad as you imagine, being on a DMP, having said that I'm still glad mine is finished this month
If I'd had done it 18 months earlier when I should have done, I would have been in a much better position, to to anyone out there who needs to get a debt crisis sorted, do it sooner, rather than later.ISA £1675MiniMoohound savings £3685.86 :T Plus £3800 CTF
