Cleaning Taps

What's the best way to clean up taps? Our bathroom suite has "brass" coloured taps which are looking a little worse for wear, but instead of paying out for new ones what's the best thing to clean them with to try and shine them up a bit ?

Also, what's the best thing for getting rid of stains on stainless steel ? It looks like something has dripped down the very bottom of the outside of our cooker (probably that evil thing called Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner) and now the stainless steel bit has streaks running down it. I've tried stardrops and vinegar before but it doesn't appear to have made much of a difference.

Thanks

I'm not sure about the taps, but you could try using some baby oil on a soft cloth on the stainless steel, it brings it up beautifully.

u can buy a thing called peak from i think its betterware or one of those books. I used to work in a posh hotel and it was what they used to clean all the brass handrails, worked a treat!

Newspaper is great to "finish" off any chrome, steel, brass or other shiny metals.
