Ocado 'discount' added back on

Options
If you're an Ocado customer watch out - 4 times (minimum) this year when buying 'discounted' meat - the discount was never actually applied. Their response "sorry there is a glitch on our system" I can't believe I'm the only one this has happened to so please do check your receipts!

But ocado are one of the best at sorting problems out if they arise and are quick to refund if there has been a mistake! :)

Yes but I think the point to note here is how many people don't realise and so don't complain which means they get away with a lot of overcharging.

They can afford to offer good service to the people who notice because they are probably quids in from the people who don't! The cynic in me suspects they know full well this is happening but are willing to take the chance because they make more than they lose.
  • Hi all,

Having read your thread about Ocado I feel that this is just touching only the tip of the iceberg.I've shopped with them twice now-won't be a 3rd time-and feel that their customer services need to be improved drastically. The first time I spent about £70 on mainly dog food and used a coupon that they emailed to me to get a discount off my first order.Well they did give me my discount but refused to price match Tesco-which they make a big point about doing- and instead of saving £14.00 using the discount I only saved a single penny! My second order -delivered yesterday included a pack of Aberdeen Angus 4 oz steak burgers which when they turned up were marked with a sticker saying "buy one get one Free" but only one arrived.I contacted customer services who told me that to get the offer I should have put 2 in my basket! Only one problem -there is no mention anywhere on their website about the buy one get one free offer so without being very gifted in some way there is no way that I could have known about the offer. For this reason i'm now done with Ocado -I don't believe that they want my £200/£300 a month spend or value my patronage like other online supermarkets would do.Does anybody agree with me or am I just getting all "bitter and twisted"?

But if you were in the shop and only wanted 1 pack, that is all you would pick up, isn't it? That's why there is a waste of food in this country. The sooner they stop all these promotions and just do a discount off the food the better.

I cant see why anyone would wish to buy discounted( ready to go off) meat on a website either. If you are looking at the ' whoopsie's' in the shop, you can look at them, see what state they are in and whether they are worth it. Buying them online, you are leaving the choice to someone, who normally doesn't give a fig. That's why I don't shop online for groceries much now, sick of getting yellow bananas, that go off within a day.

I've tried all the online food shopping places. So far:

Ocado - fruit and veg not always great, but great customer service and cheap.

Tesco - great, although less flexible than Ocado on deliveries. They might have changed this now though...

Sainsburys - dodgy substitutions, and they don't have the same policy where you don't pay any difference in price, so you end up coughing up lots of money, or go without.

Asda - argh. Good selection of food, but just hope you don't have to deal with their awful customer service. They made so many mistakes in orders with pricing.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
