Help with Mobile default / ended contract

afternoon all,

just looking for some advice on the following:

checked my bank online for the first time and it would appear that a mobile bill i cancelled over a year ago (by phone) has been still being charged. i remember at the time of cancelling that i also requested that the dd be stopped, this has lead to a default by the provider while they have still been helping themselves by direct debit somehow (could they re-instate it?).

is there any way i could put it to them that the money they have taken (£27 pm x 14 months) is far greater than the default (£127) and that my default should be written off at least as a good will gesture?

Why would you want it written off? I would want it removing and clearing completely!!

Are you saying that they have defaulted you to the tune of £127 whilst still taking payments from your account totalling £378? I would want the default removing and £251 refunding to me if what you are saying is correct.

I'm assuming that you didn't cancel the DD with the bank? Have you contacted them and asked how you can have a default when you are still paying?

thanks for the reply, youre correct in your assumption, 14 months ago my contract came to an end, i phoned and cancelled with the mobile provider and cancelled the direct debit with the bank, now down the line i realise that they have placed a default on my file for £127, and have still been taking the £27 per month for a contract that i have cancelled. i also havent received anything that would come with a renewal of the contract such as a new phone or tarriff reduction.

havent contacted the mobile provider as yet as wanted to see what the best tactic was from the experts!! im thinking that i go in hard with a letter to their credit control demanding the surplus payments back and ask them to remove the default?

i didnt end the contract in writing, but i distictly remember them saying at the start of the call that all calls were recorded for monitoring etc, which i guess is my legal disclaimer?
