This will depend on the type of leather - you need tobe careful. WD40 will damage the finish on the leather. Is the tar sitting in the surface or has it soaked into the leather? The type of leather is crucial in knowing how to fix it.
Hope this helps

Only if you are stupid enough to leave it to soak in which anyone with a shred of common sense wouldn't be.. you'd hope.. you spray it on.. you get a cloth and you wipe it off.. otherwise I'd have wrecked every pair of shoes/boots I've ever owned!.. yet I have ruined none!
I've used WD40 to get everything off a variety of surfaces.. if it is sticky or inky it is the only thing I reach for.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Yes but it depends on the type of leather you have. Shoes and boots are finished in a different way to furniture and we have repaired many a sofa that has been damaged by people using things like WD40 and hairspray to remove ink.
Maybe they are all people without common sense!!!!
Cheers

I think it often depends on how dreadful the stain is. If it completely ruins the bag then it's worth a go, followed by copious application of cream shoe polish to deal with the leather damage.
I might be tempted to see if I could "patch" the bag in some way, or add something like a flower made of matching / contrasting leather, to make a feature.0 -
Judyb,
I have just looked on your webpage. I wish I had known that service existed years ago!
Do they do a cleaning service for suede bags?
I have a lovely blue one with leather strap and I do shower proof it but I would love to keep it in tip top condition as it was a very special mummy's day gift.
