Hi there I Was wondering if anyone could help. I know nothing about tax and find it hard to understand all the info out there. This is my first job which I started back in November. Today I got an end of year certificate p60 which states my pay last year was 4,127.28. It also says the tax deducted was £337.51. I Thought the threashold was something over £5,000 or am I mistaken? If anyone can help I would really apprechiate it,

thanks, Jenny

    Last year's tax-free allowance was £5035.

If that is your only job then yes you are due all of the tax that you paid back. Phone up HMRC and they will get you started on how to claim your refund.

Thanks for the reply Jem, yes this is my only job, over the year it should be £14,000ish but between Nov and April I earned just over £4,000, so is this suitable to make a claim?

    Thanks again

Yes absolutely. You earned less than the tax-free allowance so you should be due a refund of £337.51

  • Hi,

I would think that you are due a full refund.

Have a look here for Tax info, and here for a simple tax calculator.
