Employment Tribunal Pending

Hi all,
Just after some advice really. My other half has a tribunal pending next month against his former employers. He was dismissed on the grounds of gross misconduct from the big employer with a green A.
We are starting to get cold feet now as there is just over a month to go. The whole appeal process has been a complete farce, it took him 4 months from dismissal to commence his appeal and 6 months to find out that they were upholding their decision.
Other half is now settled in another job which he got 2 weeks after his dimissal (even though its as and when and has been getting good hours) he has said he just wants to get on with the future and forget about the past.
What worries us is that he is representing himself and have been reading that companies can claim costs if the judge decides in their favour. What is the chance of a large company claiming costs? Just struggling at the moment as its putting a lot of stress on us both.
Thanks in advance

Its a very small percentage of claims that get costs awarded against the respondant or the claimant, I dont have a link but there are figures on the internet about that specific issue.
A lot of companies try and get claimants to drop their cases, saying that they will pursue a costs award.0
