Hi
I visited the Jobcentre today and came across something that i found quite shocking to me..
I gave the DWP permission to view my UJM account instead of using a paper record of my job search..
But as i watched my advisor "viewing" my account i noticed she wasnt viewing it, but in fact was LOGGED IN using my Email address. Top right hand corner of her screen showed her logged in on my account..
When quizzed as to how she was in my account she told me i gave them permission when i checked that box in my profile..
DID I?
I have looked at there T+C over and over and cant find it anywhere.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

If I was you, I would go on there and untick that box and go back to filling in the paper!

Get yourself up to the correct board, they will be able to advise you better.0

be careful when ticking boxes! you may think you are giving permission for one thing only - when in reality you have given some stranger carte blanche! Rescind your permission and go back to paper - and keep copies!0

Probably not. I think (but could be wrong) it's checked by default.(they're sneaky !!!!!!s).
You have to go into your profile and uncheck it.0 -

I have read and took a screenshot of todays T+Cs and it clearly says they can "View" my account... I have no issue with that as i am an active user looking for work. I was actually impressed as this is the first DWP advisor rep to take a look in months..
My issue lies in how she was doing the "Viewing".
I thought they had perhaps a programme that highlighted my activity and flashed up if i was falling short on my agreement. If that were the case i would be happy for them to do so.
I am not at all comfortable in the knowledge that software has been made specifically to bypass my password and have access to all the personal details on my profile.
She opened my CV which is a private file (i send it with applications but am not happy having it visible to the world)
She opened my Spec letter template which is also a private file.
Something else that made me a little worried was that she said she could not change anything in my account. If she is logged in then surely she can/could alter anything on my account.
Anyone working for DWP wanna set my mind at ease on the latter, feel free..0 -

You have allowed them access to your account to view it.
They can likely check your account status using your name, NI number or email address, then view it.
Probably they can view but not change anything.0 -
you don't have to enter your ni number when joiningThey are not logging in same way you are logging in.

Probably they can view but not change anything. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Yes they can view your account and CV's but can't change anything although they can submit jobs. They don't have the same access as you.0

Im not sure im buying this part..
She opened Two files that had a private Status. That in itself suggests she has equally as much access as i do..
Whats the point in making things private if the provider can see it ???0 -

If you don't want them to have access untick the box that gives them permission to have access, by ticking that box you are giving them permission to have access and you have seen for yourself the kind of access they have, I suggest you do a google search to find out the kind of access you are granting them if you tick the box and note the best advice will not come from the universal jobmatch site or any government run site just be aware of that!0
