No it isn't. You will probably be entitled to six months of contribution based JSA though if you have been working regularly and paying NI contributions.
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Thanks Torry Quine, not the answer I wanted though, from 60 you can the NI paid without signing on though, my consolation prize. Cheers

But the JSA is money in your pocket?

If you want to retire earlier than state pension age it is best to live off savings and investments or even part time income.

Did the work you were in have a pension? when older employees are made redundant, they quite often allow early retirement.

Thanks, yes I have another one with the Company but just thought I could bring it all forward, I seem to recall someone telling me that if you had paid your contributions for forty years or more then it could be done. Get it over and done with as it were. Thanks for your reply.

Tumbo, if you're a man and your income is low enough, you can apply for pension credit from when you reach the age that a woman would be entitled to state pension from, if you see what I mean.

If you're a woman, the age for both state pension and pension credit entitlement are the same so JSA is your only option (assuming you are available for and actively seeking work). .
