you are right pania she has been my saving grace and has stopped my slipping into a horrible depression. Unfortunately grass livery is really rare round here and I get quite a few services for free so I am able to go away and the owner arranges trimming and gets her in etc so I hav no stress with that. The owner has suggested I keep her out this winter as she is a hardy cob so would easily cope.
we were behind on our electric so need to make up some payments anyway so I will leave the payments for the mo.
Petplan worked out the same as NFU when I rang round as I have to insure her for £4k to be paid to her owners if she were to be put down in my care.
I am glad someone else understands the horse thing

I know they say Bloomin animals but when your down god they make you happy!! Mine is a little welsh sec a, my friend who breeds thoroughbreds tells me monthly to sell him and get a "proper horse" but he is only 3, rescued and makes me laugh til my sides hurt with his antics!
Yes i thoroughly understand the horse thing! good that you get the support to look after her to. that takes a weight off your shoulders.
Good luck to you and if there is anything i can do at all to help you let me know. (am in norfolk btw)debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -
Things that stare me in the face are the launderette. I know you can't have a washing machine but could you buy a bottle of Stardrops for 79p and wash the bulk of your washing in the sink? Just wash large items like sheets etc at the launderette.
Could you use public transport to see your friends and family?
When I first looked at your SOA I thought you were paying £15 to haveyour own feet trimmed :rotfl: It's a pity your not allergic to horses

She is great at making me laugh, she pushes me over with her nose when I am washing her water trough out. She also will do anything for food including limboing under the stable barrier.0 -

You mention your take home pay after deductions including BUPA - do you really need this & how much is it per month?
Laundrette - this is quite a lot every month could you either share loads with your flatmates, wash some stuff by hand or even pretend your a student again & take washing to do when you visit family? Also, do you pay for tumbledrying at the laundrette or bring it home to put on airers? I have a wonderful little spin dryer that cost me £10 in a charity shop - gets out loads of excess water & mean the clothes dry inside really quickly.Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Hi inthegreen,
I'm also a horsy girl so I know who you feel about yours. For the record, I pay £200 a month for a 7 acre field for my 3 girls (2 ponies, 1 horse), not sure what that equates to per horse as it's been years since I've used a livery yard. As you mentioned, if yours is quite cobby she's more than capable of living out all year round, thus saving quite a bit of money in shavings. If you're really worried about her, buy a rug. Don't you find that summer is so cheap? I love it, they hardly cost me anything, no hay, feed, stables etc.
This sounds like it's a bit late coming, but avoid E&L like the plague. They took me for a ride (pun intended!) a few years back, fortunately it didn't run into thousands like it did with you. Insurance is a nightmare, so I'll probably cancel it for the little'un as she never goes out on roads. The other two go out on the roads quite a bit (country lanes mind, hardly any cars) so have to be insured.
Anyway good luck, and if you ever want any horse-chat let me know!

I handwash with Stardrops (can you tell I've been on the old style boards) but it just doesn't shift on my riding clothes and some of my thick running socks plus there is no space for drying. The flat is tiny no lounge and 3 single rooms so no space to dry anything really. I do borrow friends and family's machines where possible
Public transport works out as more expensive and takes up most of the time I would spend with them but I dod always check just in case
£15 on my feet, I wish, 50p bottle of nail varnish has been my only feet luxury in the past 6 months!!!
It was agreed that my husband would have the house and I feel more comfortable being the one away as I know I will pay my half whereas I am concerned he will not pay his half.0 -
I love summer, no mucking out, light mornings and nights, cheap no knee deep mud and no ripped rugs.:j0
