Hi All,
Wanting to have the holiday of a lifetime for our honeymoon but have very different ideas about what would be best! We are getting married at the end of April '14 but may leave it until June/ July to go away on a proper honeymoon.
Anyone have any ideas? We were thinking of once in a lifetime sightseeing/ adventure but still want a relaxed sun drenched beach holiday! Hubby to be doesn't like long flights but i'm sure he could be persuaded!:rotfl:
Any ideas?!

We did the US for ours - 3 weeks in Florida followed by a week in NYC...absolutely loved it. Did cocoa beach (and watched a rocket launch from the space centre), then a couple of weeks in Orlando - did the parks, swimming with dolphins, swimming with manatees, Blue Man Group, Cirque Du Soleil etc etc then chilled out in Clearwater for a few days before flying up to NYC for all the touristy stuff, cocktails, broadway shows etc. Really did have the time of our lives0

We've decided to go to Madagascar. We love adventure, walking, nature and animals, but will welcome the beautiful beaches too. It is a massive island so we are building up the best way we can visit it. It is very expensive to, so decided to do it next year so we have plenty of time to concentrate our mind on it and save a bit more!0

We're too getting married April next year but we're thinking of going to New York for the Christmas and New Year 14 instead and maybe having a short break just after the wedding

We too are getting married in April 2014 and waiting until June for our honeymoon.
We are going to Santorini in Greece, looks absolutely stunning!0 -
We just got back from our honeymoon in Jamaica. Couldn't have hoped for more - and a great mix of the active/relaxing.
Over the trip we did the following:
- Spent at least half the time swimming in sea and pool, lying on beach, drinking cocktails in the water in the swim-up bar and the jacuzzi, eating amazing food (a la carte and buffets) and having a complimentary couples massage
- Snorkelling, pedal-boating, glass bottom boat tour, cooking demonstration, ice carving class etc (all included for free at resort)
- Excursion to swim in waterfall, see crocodiles in the river, taste rum at a rum distillery
- Excursion to meander down a river on a bamboo raft & visit a plantation
- Excursion to visit local schools, a rasta garden, abandoned beach and eat with the locals
- Excursion to a tiny bird sanctuary where we fed hummingbirds by hand, then visited a colonial house which is said to be haunted
- Excursion on a local fishing boat to see the flora and fauna, and climb a Victorian lighthouse
We passed up on other options, such as a sunset catamaran cruise, cliff jumping, free tennis, golf, windsurfing, jet skis and all manner of sports...
As you can gather, I highly recommend it for whatever kind of experiences you prefer!0 -
A lot of people combine Dubai with the Maldives, or Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Could do sight seeing in the first then relaxation in the Maldives. Plus with the changing of flights it won't be quite as painful as a direct flight all the way there.Mother, wife, scientist, analyst.

We went away for a week in the UK straight after our wedding, and had our honeymoon for our first anniversary. Meant we could use the Thomas Cook vouchers we got for wedding presents too!0

I've been Head of Honeymoon in our house... she still doesn't know where we're going! :rotfl:
First ideas I had were Greek island hopping - Santorini looks amazing for a honeymoon!
In the end I went for a long haul trip of a lifetime (for us!) 4 nights in Las Vegas followed by a week in Aruba - totally contrasting places!
Wherever you choose I'm sure it'll be amazing :beer:0 -
For ours in September we are going to California. San Francisco, Laguna Beach, San Diego and Las Vegas. So some of those places are sitting around the pool or on the beach and some sightseeing so its perfect for us.
Hope you find your dream honeymoon.0
