It was over 3 years ago we had no other option then to go bank rupt this was an awful time for us, We never told any of our family as we did not want them to re morgage ect, Infact my husbands dad still does not know.
At the time it was our way forward!!! But we feel very controlled now, We have good jobs and now our children are both at school my hours have increased, We are both nurses my husband has recently been maded a ward manager. We felt like this year we turned the corner and was able to look ahead. We managed to even keep our house as it was in negative aquity the offical reciever discharged us from his service over 12 months ago signing over our house back to us.
I recieved a letter from HSCB over 6 weeks ago stating i had paid PPI on two loans, To be honest i had wanted to forget our experince and was not even going to reply but i did out of pure inocence as i have been discharged from official reciever and bank ruptcy. It has not been finalised yet but am i right in thinking this is not my money? and will be sent straight to the offical reciever?
If this is true then why discharge us? And it feels we are really stuck. We have good jobs are good people, we can not get car fiance or nothing, It just seems veryunfair and although you try to forget what has happened you are never free.
When really does bank ruptcy stop? Or does it always stay with you?
Thank You for any help.

Hmm, don't be disheartened! At least you don't have all that debt on your shoulders anymore, dragging you down!
I'm 7 years on from Discharge and have three credit cards and a large mortgage on the home of my dreams.
The way I saw it, it wasn't meant to be easy to Bankrupt myself, or everyone would do it at the first sign of trouble! It's a HUGE commitment.
Your life WILL improve slowly. Follow some of the inspirational stories on these boards. In another 5 years you'll look back to now with a wry smile and be proud of yourself for getting you and your family through such a stressful time.
Slowly, slowly catchee money monkey :rotfl:0 -
3 years is nowhere near enough I am afraid, black marks stay on our credit file for 6 years and there really is little worse than bankruptcy.
Chin up, you are certainly through the worst of it and making a better future for yourselves. Keep working and saving hard and try staying out of debt.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
I think the reason the money belongs to the OR is that the loans the ppi relate to were pre bankruptcy loans which were wiped with your bankruptcy. If the ppi money is looked at as an "asset" then this asset accumulated prior to your bankruptcy and therefore belongs to the OR.
No doubt the money would have given you a lift but this is the ups and downs of bankruptcy unfortunately.0
