Has anyone out there claimed back tax deducted by the US IRS under the foreign withholding tax - I'm trying to claim back some money deducted from a bequest made by my grandmother and they are asking for my original passport as proof of ID I have read its easy to sort but cant get past the first hurdle

You don't have the passport? You don't want to send the original? (If this is the problem, will a notarised copy be acceptable? Or could you produce your passport at the US Embassy?0 -
Are you filing a US return? Are you getting an ITIN? Are you filing a W-8(BEN)? Please explain the problem!0
