How can Pension companies be allowed to keep you in the dark?

Can I ask why you seem not to have read the whole thread?
Sorry, but you've lost me. I don't see how the above relates to my question? Probably my fault for not being clear in my question, so hopefully I can make it a bit clearer?
In my mind, there are 2 types of people motivated to post on these sorts of boards. Those who are interested in certain topics and so lurk on those board. For example, I'm interested in Green technologies and so I lurk on the Green and Ethical board. There are those who have a specific question about a certain topic and post their queries on relevent boards. For example, I came on here to seek pensions advice and found it after searching an old thread. While I was here, I spotted this thread and read/contributed to it.
What I can't understand is where you fit into those? Please forgive me if I'm wrong but you seem to be anti retirement investing? If so, then you're not lurking on the board because you are interested in the topic. As you're anti-retirement saving I can't imagine you're on here seeking advice either?
I guess that was my real question. What's your motivation?0 -
After all, I've been keeping my husband for the past 30 years.
Perhaps the motivation is resentment? Maybe w/o realising it? The poster seems unhappy with their financial position in the scheme of things but unwilling to understand why?
I don't see that they have an agenda of sorts, but do agree the whole tone was anti-retirement. So just keep working maybe- they can't fire you for working past 65 anymore.0 -
Ah, I didn't see that. I don't want the poster to think I'm having a go as I'm not really fussed if they like pensions or not, I am just interested in what motivates people to do certain things. Too nosey I suppose.0
-
Not too nosey, just trying to understand perhaps.
It isn't always easy to understand other's circumstances? So we ask and try.0 -
Or maybe he can keep you anyway, but you certainly haven't passed along any financial knowledge from what I have seen so far?
Relying on male children to keep you is a 3rd world concept which has led to population disaster in developing countries like India and china where there are far too few girls/women now (as they were either killed/aborted or adopted out of country as babies) and this has led to a lack of marriageable age women which is leading to the sexual violence/kidnapping/ and other gender problems in these two countries.
Investing for retirement in a larger than needed property is a perfectly viable retirement option. In addition, there are many many people who supplement their UK state pension with cash drawn from a hole in the ground. Further it would help, (and you as a scientist should know better) if the replies are UK centric.0 -

Well yesterday I heard the sad news that another ex colleague had died. 65 years and 25 days old. He hadn't got to draw his state pension. The only silver lining is that he had had 6 years of early retirement after an enforced redundancy. This is exactly why I would want to retire early.Solar PV cost £5760 (15/03/13)
