Sorry for the delay (again) in posting. It's been a busy few days with some good and some bad along the way.

So, the party on Saturday (more of an afternoon gathering of family) went really well. The weather was utterly glorious. Everyone enjoyed the wedding photos and catching up in general, and the food and drink went down a storm, kids love cupcakes! The mother in law was a great addition to the party, it was great for her to meet my extended family and everyone got on really well. We then went out later that evening for a lovely meal (mother in laws treat). Fab.

Unfortunately we had sad news a couple of days ago that my aunt (mums sister) passed away. She had Alzheimer's, and had it a young age. She was 63. She too lived overseas (Canada), so we are flying out tomorrow morning and the funeral is the same day, Friday at 3pm. I know my mum and other aunt ( who also lives in Canada) are quite upset. I've been quite removed from the situation, the last time I saw my aunt she was a bit forgetful but had a good memory for some things and certainly knew who I was. I think the deterioration has been very rapid and she went from 150lbs to under 90lbs in weight in a very short time. What a horrible illness :(

On to the finances again, tax return was posted as mentioned above. Won't find out the damage until August time. My 2nd instalment of tax (paid in advance) went out yesterday. I've clearly messed up my sums somewhere as it was more than I was expecting.

I should make a few dents into the debt this month, but with cost of flights to Canada, and a few other things, it's not going to be as good a month as I had hoped. So now, even though I've just begun this diary, I'm already playing catch up!

So that's that. I fly back to the uk in four hours and then we are off to Canada in the morning. Will most likely be offline for a few days.
  • Sorry to hear of the family loss. I work with people with dementia and that so know all too well what a horrible disease it is. Sending you and your family hugs.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the situation with your bank is ok.
