5 week months

Hiya all I'm after some info if anyone here knows anything about payroll I'd be most grateful!

My partner is paid monthly on the 15th of every month and we are aware that monthly pay is subject to 4 '5 week pays' per year - he is paid an hourly rate and not a salary.

What I'm trying to find out is in which months those '5 week' pays will occur as I'm desperately trying to plan out our finances ( to make matters confusing I get paid weekly!)

We know that the last '5 week' pay was 15th Feb and the last two march and april have both been '4 week'. We are desperately hoping that this month is a 5 week month as it has been 2 months without, Can anyone help please?

look forward to hearing from you

Can't you just get a calendar and look yourself? That's what anyone else would have to do to answer your question!

If he is paid on the 15th of each month it isn't always a 4 or 5 week, looks like this month would be 4 wks and 2 days.

I use a calender to mark out our pay days as I am paid on the last Wednesday of each month and as I am salaried it is either 4 or 5 weeks to manage on the same money. My husband is paid 4 weekly and so gets paid 13 times a year. Can get a bit confusing at times.

It is confusing Unfortuantely counting the calender days doesnt help as that was shows 4 weeks plus x days most months and I know thats not the case. He is paid standard 160 hrs on his payslip each month which equates to 40 hrs per week for four weeks. Just some months are more hours than this. Its frustrating as I need to know these months as I'm a supply teacher and as such have holidays where I'm not paid so knowing what money is coming in when and where is a must for us to budget!

In order to know the answer to your problem you need to know the rules that your employer uses to decide when a 5 week month will be. Is there anything in your contract, otherwise you need to ask your employer.

It depends when the payroll cut off is etc like the 15th May to 15th June is something like 4.5 weeks long

Is he being paid up to the 14th of the month to get a good guess on the figure or another cut off date?

I think you're going to have to ask the employer, or his colleagues: it's possible May will be a 5 weeker, IF they pay them quarterly. It would space them out a bit more.

Of course in an ideal world you'd set your budget based on 12 4 week months, and then you'd get a surprise bonus every now and again! But I know this is far from an ideal world ...
