Can Mods please move this to correct place if I have got it wrong, thanks.
Hi this is my first time on the forum and I'm seeking advice help with regards to the following:
I heard on the radio something about grants for over 25s and im sure it was for a Building College but not 100% as I only caught it off chance and never heard the advert since,
I am a 26 year old Builder and am employed by a Local Builder but i have no qualifications on paper but wish to progress into further learning, I've thought about it for years but fees are far too expensive for a father on NMW. Im just after any other information on this topic as a google search hasn't helped, I'm not sure who the grant goes to but i am employed and employer would be happy for me to learn.
Thanks in advance if anyone can shed some light into this

It was probably publicity for this: https://www.gov.uk/advanced-learning-loans/overview0

Thanks ill look into that, sure it said grant not loan0

It could be one of three options.
1. 24+ Advanced Learning Loan - like a student loan for Uni, info here https://www.gov.uk/advanced-learning-loans/overview
2. First Level 2 entitlement - waives course fees for people to be able to gain their first level 2 qualification (such as NVQ2)
3. ESF Workplace Learning - funding for training up to level 2 (level 3 in some circumstances) for people who are employed and need a qualification to further their career or secure employment.0 -
It looks as though Saintjammyswine has covered the different types of funding that might be available to you, so you might have enough information to get to the bottom of what you might be entitled to.
I wonder if it’s also worth trying to track down which college/training provider was advertising the grant. Do you know which colleges provide construction training in your area? You could have a go at using the Hot Courses website to find out more and get in touch with local colleges to see if they know anything about the advert.
Good luck with it.
