:( but better than having £20 left till the end or better than adding to the debt :)

But just think if you didn't have that emergency fund things would be so much worse ... hope things get better soon.

That is true and Ive been working hard at overtime last month so should be able to replace it, I just get annoyed because I don't want to have to "replace" that money, I wanted to make extra payments with it!

Ill have a look for bits to sell but had a massive clear out before I moved so I don't think theres much left! But thanks :)

    I know that feel!

Ive moved back in with my mum for a few months in an attempt to massively reduce my debt and bills in time for when I have my baby,

but a combination of complications this month - including my car breaking after paying to fix it the first time! - means Im eating into my savings.

There is nothing more depressing than watching that lovely saving figure fizzle down. :(

I know :( So difficult to build the savings so easy to get rid of them! :(

I was so proud to get my instant access savings to £500 it felt like I had hit this amazing goal,

I had been in such debt I never thought I could achieve anything other than continue living hand to mouth.

Then last week I had to transfer £100 to my current to cover an unexpected bill.
I actually lay on my bed and sobbed. My poor OH was baffled, he thought someone had died! LOL I supposed I am pregnant to entitled to overreact, but I just felt like a massive failure.

But then realised, no matter how bad it gets, being proactive with your money is a state of mind not the state of a savings account! At the end of the day I am coming on leaps and bounds from years ago - hiding my head in the sand!

You are not a failure, that what an emergency fund is for, I've just found out that our garage roof is going to cost the best part of £5000 to replace and that will take up half our emergency pot. You are still dealing with the debt and getting the amount down.

But I'm not going to let it get me down, if we didn't have the emergency fund then I'd be crying, and we would just have to let it fall down.

Hiya Katie_Ann, I've just had one of these as well :(. Started the month with £800 saved and now down to just £50, through a combination of cars, bills and a wedding! Just think, though, at least you had the money to cover it. For once, I haven't had to use my overdraft, which is unheard of for me. The 23rd isn't too far away now, so do like me, write it off and start again. Things can only get better. Here's to a better month next time.

Sorry to hear its been such a bad month for you Katie_Ann. I think I know how you feel. As a self employed person working in what is essentially still a start up, my income is never guaranteed. We had been doing so well from November-Feb, paying large chunks off credit card, and saving an emergency pot. At this stage after 2 bad months trade, we are really looking at using every penny saved just to get through to the next pay cheque. If trade picks up sufficiently this may be avoided, but its terrifying. So I really sympathise, and know how awful the feeling of back sliding is. I suppose at times like this we have to try and remember to have a sense of humour, hard as that is, and think of the 'its only money' line. Chin up my lovely.
