Key time worker contract

Hi all
Did'nt really know which forum to put this question in so apologies if this is the wrong one.
Currently i am employed on a key time worker contract. Basicly i work if there is work if not then i don't and don't get any pay. I tend to work approx 25/30 hours a week but sometimes have to work upto 40/50.
Any way my question is where do i stand with sick pay. I've been quite ill recently with terrible pains in my knees & hips and am waiting to go and see a rheumatologist and i'm worried now in case i have to take any considerable time off work. At the minute i'm managing to muddle my way though thanks to pain killers but somedays i am virtually unable to move due to stiffness.

no its a keytime worker contract where you are guaranteed some work, but are not guaranteed regular hours each week

What regular hours are in your contract then?

Usually if you don't work because there are no hours and you don't get paid - that's a zero hours contract...

there is a difference between a zero hour & key time.
with key time you are guarenteed some work
with zero hour you are not

‘Zero contracts’ are contracts of employment which do not specify any number of hours that the employee will be required to work. They are common for shop workers. The contract says that instead of working a specific number of hours per week, you must be ready to work whenever you are asked.
‘Key time’ contracts are those where you are guaranteed some work, but are not guaranteed regular hours each week.

I know what they are. I am merely pointing out that if as you say 'Basicly i work if there is work if not then i don't and don't get any pay' then you aren't on a key time contract, otherwise you would get paid - wouldn't you?

well my contract says key time worker so its a key time worker contract.
