Hi all
Today I invested in a chamois leather, rinsed it out until nearly dry and then started my glass shelves..... its !!!!!!!
So then I used a microfibre cloth first to pick up any dirt, then used the chamois to dry the area....still !!!!!!!
Its leaving little specks of fabric all over and looks worse than when I started. I know chamois leathers must be good as all the window cleaners seem to have them, but what am I doing wrong?
It wasnt a cheapy, I paid £10 for it

Have bought 3 more today. They are fab..0 -
Give the "Chammy" a wash till all the oils are gone, then they work - but not as well as a MF cloth IMHO.
HTHThe quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -
Thanks guys, will give it a good wash today and then retry it. I wiped over the leather sofa last and it looks horrendous this morning with the sun shining on it - completely covered in specks left from the cloth.
Its interesting that you say microfibre is better, i've been using them for years and wrongly assumed that a chamois was even better.
Looks like i'll be back to the microfibre on my glass shelves :rotfl:0 -
Hello everyone...my first time on mse so please be patient!!
I swear by using microfibre cloths to clean windows, mirrors etc...I usually buy a pack of 3 from the 99p store, they're really good and washable too!
Use one with any window cleaning stuff, I know some can be a bit pricey but they do tend to avoid smears when used with the microfibre cloths. I do find that if the cloth gets too damp (if you've used it a lot with the cleaner) its performance won't be as good.
hope this helps someone out there!!0 -
Microfibre cloths have it, as far as I'm concerned. For everything: glass, furniture, even my floorboards - after a good sweeping I pass microfibre cloth all over the floors as if I were mopping. Keeps them nice and polished.
Microfibre is good for spectacles too, and general cleaning around as it absorbs a lot of water.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
