Cakes from COOK as wedding cake?

I'm looking at alternatives to the "traditional" wedding cake (which we can't afford anyway!) and was nearly set on an M&S one.
I've been looking at the cakes in our local COOK and it occurred to me that we could get a selection of different cakes in there, stack them up like a wedding cake and people can have a choice of different flavours and types of cake.
It wouldn't look very "weddingy" though as they'd all look different (although that's one of the reasons it appeals to me to be honest!).
To get to the point, has anyone else used COOK cakes as their wedding cake and if so, did it go down well?

ive had a quick look at the website...and youre probably right they dont initially appear that "wedding"
However thinking about it what is a wedding cake...its cake served at weddings,so if this is more in keeping with your style then why not go for it.
It then got me thinking that you could present it all out on a little table cut into managable or bitesized peices that guests could choose a selection of,similar in thought to a sweetie table...I'm starting to think its a lovely quirky idea!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

You could cover them with ready-to-use white fondant icing from the supermarket or even pour over a glace icing, stick on some wedding-y cake decorations, then stack the cakes up.
The fact that there are different cakes inside would then come as a surprise.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
74jax: I'd imagine there'd be quite a few other websites before you get to the right one
LEJC: That's a really good idea - maybe we could display the cakes in the traditional tiered style until the cutting then get them put out on the side in little bitesized pieces like you suggested afterwards?
Owain: Love the glac! icing idea as well - plus the handmade look would really work well with the rest of our wedding as well.
Brilliant ideas, thanks!0
