Do men check out their girlfriends mums?

My DH told me that when we were first going out he made sure my mum was still a nice looker to check what I'd look like when I got older!
I thought of it as a joke, but I have since heard that it's quite a common thing. Did the men on here take notice of their girlfriends mum before deciding to settle down?

If you're able to be put off by something you see in your GF's mum, then you don't like your GF enough to settle down."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

DH certainly didn't get put off. And he promised me he wouldn't let me get like her, as far as character goes ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

Hi,
it's been known for some of them do 'more' than just check them out.

The thought of making a comparison sends shudders down my spine. I imagine for much the same reasons why my OH did not look at my Dad to compare, as he is nothing like me in looks, personality or even wealth.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

It certainly wasn't something I took into consideration when I first met the now Mrs G. However, when I did get to meet her mother, it was reassuring that she was/is no swamp donkey.
My dad and I are quite similar in all but height... and age.0 -

DH says he didn't (no point as I'm adopted, although he did get to meet my birth-mum a few times later on). I must admit I checked out his Dad (out of sheer curiosity) who is still an attractive guy in his late sixties. DH is tearing his hair out at the antics of my adoptive family right now but he can see I'm not at all like them."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000
