Anyone tried losing weight using raspberry ketones ?

A colleague at work uses them and has shifted a fair bit of weight. He takes one in the morning and eats nothing during the day and has his evening meal at night.
Bought some on line and have taken my first one today.......any MSE experts tried these and have any tips on the best way to use them.

He'll be losing weight due to not eating during the day, I bet these raspberry ketones are nothing to do with it
  • I started taking these, however keep forgetting lol. So, can't say whether they are going to help with weight loss or not. The directions on the ones I have is: take one 15 - 30 mins before breakfast & one 15 - 30 mins before lunch. There is nowhere on the packet that suggests you don't eat anything until tea time.

Read a few reviews & not all of them have been positive to be honest.

I guess it's case of what works for some doesn't work for all.

Another fad - don't waste your money on these things.
  • I don't think taking any supplements are a problem. It's just if people chose to take these supplements and not accept they have to diet & exercise, then that's where the problem lies.
  • I have not tried these, so I'm not speaking from experience. I think they are just another gimmick generating money for weight loss companies. There is no evidence that they are effective in humans. The clinical research that has been done, has been done on rats and with massive doses at that. Far higher doses than you would get in the weight loss supplements.

I think most of us who struggle with weight would love to find that magic bullet that will work, but unfortunately it's always back to the boring stuff: consuming fewer calories and burning more. Your colleague's lost weight because he's eating less. Maybe the raspberry ketone works as a placebo for some people, and maybe for them, that's worth the money. If these really did work, I'm sure doctors would be prescribing, or at least recommending them.
  • Doubt very much doctors would spend their budgets prescribing supplements even if they were proven to work.

Raspberries are supposed to good in terms of boosting metabolism & also antioxidant properties. So, even if they don't aid in weight loss, they ain't gonna cause harm.

Also what works for one person may not work for others.
  • I sent for supposedly free trial which actually cost £5 postage. Now I've been charged £75 and £37.50 for a free trial! My credit card cannot help, they can only help if this scamming company try to take any more money. Maybe trading standards ought to be told/involved in this. So now I have to pay over £100 for crap. Don't have anything to do with this company or any others like it.:(:(

Mmmmm...................I paid £19 from Amazon for 90 tablets.I started taking them on Saturday morning and I have hit the exercise quite hard and they certainly seem to make me feel less hungry(or maybe it is just in my head) during the day.
Even if they are working as a placebo and the combination of more exercise and eating less crap and cutting out the vino tinto completely has shifted the weight I have lost so far.............they are probably worth the money.
Reviews on line seem to be mixed.

  • I get my supplements from Hecticsports.co.uk.

They are very reasonably priced. Although, I bought my Raspberry Ketones from their ebay shop as they were slightly cheaper.

As you say BirnamBear..even if it's a placebo effect, it's worth it if it's helping you to lose weight.

I must agree tho', I take one around lunch time & they do seem to kerb my appetite.

Why not? If not prescribing, then recommending. People get prescribed iron supplements when they are anaemic. Obesity costs the NHS huge amounts of money, if there was something that really worked to fix it, of course doctors would be all over it, as would the big drug companies.
So, even if they don't aid in weight loss, they ain't gonna cause harm.
    I admire your optimism! :)
