Informal Wedding Venue Help Please in Yorkshire :-)

This is my 1st post on here so I apologise in advance if I miss something!

We got engaged on New Year’s Day and have been looking for the right venue ever since! Unfortunately we have yet to find the right place within our budget that ticks all the boxes. I wondered if anyone had any suggestions of places we may have missed!

Ideally we wouldlike an informal venue where we have a civil ceremony and reception. We would like to serve afternoon tea as the wedding breakfast and Hog Roast or BBQ for the evening reception.

We would love abarn or Marquee and somewhere which offers bespoke, but very quickly I have realised that this has become very popular and therefore works out a lot more expensiveand often they have huge venues fees!

We would like to decorate the venue with paper pom pom & lanterns etc, and DO NOT want seat covers;I would love to have Chiavair/banquet chairs instead for a much more informal feel.

We would alsolove a band and would rather spend the money of having a big party with all outfriends and family than paying for the traditional wedding venues & accessories etc.

We live in Sheffield, South Yorkshire but would be willing to travel within Yorkshire for the right place.

Am I asking too much, can anyone help please?

Thanks :)

There's a post a bit further down from yours for intimate places in Yorkshire and on that one I mentioned a place I am going to this July,it's Danby castle, there are others check them out.

  • Thanks you, I have seen that post now and checked out Danby Castle in Whitby. It looks amazing and they offer and vintage tea package :-) I have sent them an email tonight, but think it may be a too expensive with our numbers, but will wait and see!

Have you looked at Whirlow Hall Farm? They have a barn or a field you can hire for a marquee. Gorgeous scenery and setting, very laid back.

There's also Wood Lane Countryside Centre which can be as formal or informal as you make it.

Both are in Sheffield and are places we went to look at :)

I was also going to suggest Wood Lane Country Side Centre. My OH is a wedding photographer and has done a couple of weddings there. They are pretty laid back at allowing you to do the wedding as you want, without being too strict like some venues can be.

Bradfield Village Hall I think is really reasonable and again, you can do pretty much what you want with it :o

    Good luck with your planning.
Debt free other than a mortgage but still always wanting to save money :j.

Busy saving for my wedding July 2014 :o.

We had Whiston Manorial Barn for our evening reception, but I know that they were applying for a ceremony license for this year.

Limited outside space though, and you would need to hire the chairs in as the ones they have look terrible without seat covers.
