income tax and part time job

hi,

My wife works full time but has also been doing a casual job on the side, working as and when needed. this second job generates 2k-3K per annum. We have never decalred this income simply because i never thought about it. Anyway, i ahve realised that i need to declare it.

If anyone knows, my questions are:
1) how do i go about this?
2) how far back would i be expected to pay tax
3) is there any chance we could get in a lot of trouble about not informing IR in the first place?

If anyone knows or could give any advice about the best way to proceed i would be really grateful.

You will need to contact HMRC and advise them of the earnings.

Is this job on a self employed basis? Otherwise I would have thought that her employer would have informed HMRC.
