M6 Toll is £5.50 per trip so £11 per day, it is possible to avoid it but would often lead to a lengthy delay due to road works on the M6.

  • I'd probably buy an electric bike if it was that bad. £500 a month is shocking.

It costs me over £500 to get to and from work every month this includes parking petrol and toll road. I'm only earning £1200 a month so that's nearly half my wages. Take off insurance and bills etc I'm left with virtually nothing and I'm seriously in debt a small amount with friends, but after paying them back when I get paid its like a vicious circle.
Is there anything I can do to claim expenses back from HMRC ??

    what about a car share?

Does need a better breakdown of what your costs are and the distance being covered..

    Parking -
    Toll -
    Petrol -

How far are you travelling is there any practical public transport means? Bus \ Train or Bike combination...

Really? I started a new job and Google Maps told me it would cost me £12 per day to get here, so £60 a week. It actually costs £45 and that's before I've started to make changes to my driving patterns. Have you looked at every saving going? Using a cashback credit card (or even Tesco or M&S for the vouchers) for buying your petrol (and paying it off!!!), ensuring your tyres are pumped correctly, driving most economically, etc? Petrol stations are having a price war so at the moment I'm able to fill up for about 10p cheaper per litre than two weeks ago.
