There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

    Lovely!
Mostar is on my list of places to go, and Stari Most will be photographed many times I reckon. I love the shape. What's the rest of the architecture like Westie? Is there a lot of Ottoman influence in the city?

It's lovely here, currently sitting at 29C. Our guesthouse owner says there is quite a bit of Ottomam influence :) There are still buildings with scars of the war to be seen. Going off to explore later when it is cooler.

I snuck down into a restaurant to get a clear pic :rotfl: just pretended I was eating upstairs ;)

Yes exel 1966 the bridge you saw was destroyed. Apparently it is custom if you are male and born in Mostar to jump from the bridge. HC ain't jumping :( :rotfl: good job he'd because he would cause a tidal wave :D
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

Not only have I got the Disaronno but also the little biscuits too.

I soaked the peaches and covered them in the crushed biscuits and popped them in the oven for 20mins and served within the ice cream.

Think I bought the Disarrono on hol a few years back. I only use it in desserts:)

It's DD's favourite tipple. I've had a couple of £3 off £20 spends from S's so bought Dissarono and a couple of bits that were cheaper in A's which i would have bought anyway and got a brand match as Disaronno was £11 in A's. Worked out £8 per bottle as wouldn't have spent £20 in S's otherwise.

Someone was killed the week before we were there, jumping from the bridge. They apparently have to reach down and chuck up some pebbles (from boyhood to becoming a man), and the water wasn't deep enough at the time and the poor boy died (broke his neck).

Quote Savvybuyer - "Morning. I was to about to say that my post (i.e. the one you're currently now reading) - now the ending of this one - was only the second post this morning to relate to purchases from shops and money-saving. Seems nearly everyone else is just having pointless social conversation (small laugh, not a roll-around).

Chimerical, your post above is the exception and it raises very important points.

    It ends "Very sad"."

Hi Savvybuyer - as a newbie poster I can't quote so I cut and pasted excerpts from Silvercar and Fairclaire who had posted overnight I was so pleased to see other people had seen another side - we are all different and just cos some like all flowery cushioned sympathy we are all individuals and express our feelings differently - and each persons posts should be considered equally valid even if it is does not meet what we might consider the norm or it makes us feel sad, it doesn't make it any less valid and they shouldn't be dissed or judged.:)

I love seeing your lists and the information you give is brilliant

    Welcome to the thread Chimerical!:)

quite often newbies who express an opinion as dismissed as AE's or trolls and not given a chance by the cliquey few, so I would like to welcome you here, you have made some valid points without getting embroiled in petty squabbles,

    please stick around!:D
