Yahoo was compromised earlier on this year I think as both my accounts got hit.
Weird thing was they were done a day apart and one of them had a strong password that wasn't easy to guess.
One account said it was accessed from Kazaksthan I think and the other Bulgaria or somewhere Eastern Europe.
Luckily for me all they did was use my account to spam others (they didn't do any harm a password change couldn't fix) and I can see other peoples accounts are still being compromised every month because I get spammy messages from people I've dealt with over the years. One of the 2 accounts is about 10 years old and was used in my selling days so there's thousands of e-mail accounts I've dealt with in that time.I wish I had kept the link to the story, I'm sure I read that the Yahoo files with the passwords were hacked last year. So it would have be kind of BT/Yahoo to warn people then to change them. Another story said they thought it might be someone internal involved. I might be bit wrong on the details, I was desperately trying to find a way to get it all working again from Outlook so google was my friend. When we tried to log on ours it said it had been suspended due to suspicious activity. That was I guess lots of our contacts receiving spam, but there is no evidence of that in our account. The only sign, which I didn't do straight away, is to use an option to see where you have logged on from, It was not an immediately obvious menu option. Then we could see the 3 Russian entries.
Just catching up on thread and noticed that hacking of yahoo account seem to be a problem at the moment.
OH had his hacked from somewhere abroad earlier this year.
We only knew about it as I had received a email from him and I knew that he had not sent it.
I changed the passwords on all yahoo accounts and things seem to be fine.
I also added extra security measures,
Yahoo have a secure log in, where if your trying to log in using a device that it does not recognise ie not you computer/ip address.? it asks you to verify the account by either phoning you or sending a text message.

Looks like it is coming my way. Clouds have suddenly gone very dark in last five minutes.
Still OK in my bit of Cornwall.
I picked up a couple of things at A and L earlier on and was all set for a swim, then thought how beautiful the weather was and what a shame to miss it.
So I just went for a 2 mile walk around the grounds of a local NT place, it's open access for the grounds and you can slip into the gardens easily enough. Absolutely stunning, the camellias are finished but the rhodos, azaleas and magnolias are in full bloom with more to come (must tell the wife to go in our absence next week!).
All the better to walk in the sun knowing a big storm is on its way
Anyhoo, off for me swim in a bit.0 -
