There is a separate loan for fees and then one for living costs. No matter what the fees, I will simply let my DD2 do whatever she chooses. If she doesn't earn enough in life she won't pay it back. If she does, well then good on her education! :A We will, of course, be giving her lots of groceries and vouchers!

For parental income of £50,000+, a student gets:

    £9,000 Tuition Fee Loan
£4,788 Maintenance Loan (for living costs)

For parental income of £40,000, student gets:

    £9,000 Tuition Fee Loan
£5,239 Maintenance Loan (for living costs)
£523 Maintenance Grant (for living costs)

For parental income of £30,000, student gets:

    £9,000 Tuition Fee Loan
£4,330 Maintenance Loan (for living costs)
£2,341 Maintenance Grant (for living costs)

For parental income of £20,000, student gets:

    £9,000 Tuition Fee Loan
£3,875 Maintenance Loan (for living costs)
£3,250 Maintenance Grant (for living costs) plus bursaries from the uni of up to £1,000.

DS2's hall fees this year (and he chose a cheapish hall) were £4,850. Add on books/ travel/ food/ clothes....

  • I see Gala Bingo has gone to £22.22 @ TCB if anybody has not played it yet. Trouble free and tracks/ confirms/ goes payable nice & quick.

£10 in, £22.22 out plus you might win a few quid (we did )

I can also recommend the clock idea... When my DD started to recognise numbers I bought her a digital clock for her room....I told her that when it got to 7:30 that was when it was morning...it did work and she doesn't come out of her room on a weekend until then unless she knows I'm already up with little man....she's older now and plays or reads usually until its "morning"...... Unfortunately little man isn't quite at that stage yet and seems to like waking at 6 ish...proceeded by shouting mummy..daddy...down stairs:rotfl:

We do exactly the same thing ds1 is 2.5 and he has a digital alarm clock and we emphasised that the number 7 is really special and that's the time his dad can come and get him from bed. Its really worked for us , prior to this he was getting up at 5.30. He loves his clock. :j

I'm going to double up my vouchers on clothes ........unfortunately i don't think they'll fit ;)

Im a bit  at having to spend mine on an iPod.....but needs must. DS1 is giving me the £110 it's costing me in CC vouchers from his savings. So he gets a half price iPod and I get.......stung! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I just went to the printer to pick up my Dr O MOCs and I forgot I'd changed the preference from landscape (what i thought was needed for these to print ok) back to portrait

Well they've printed out just fine in portrait, 3 to a page

    Much more coupon wallet friendly!

If you look down the right hand side of the page, under the cost, under special offers, you'll see in blue writing "I'm in the clubcard exchange"

use the same method to check for other models

    hth

Thank you :A it's much clearer now
