How do i find my address history?

I have recently been offered a new job and I have to fill in a basic disclosure form. One of the sections asks you to provide your address history for the past 5 years. Unfortunately I have moved about 6 times in that period and have lost track of addresses and length of times I have spent at the properties.

I keep all of my important documents so with a bit of time could patch together the addresses but I don't think they will be able to tell me the dates I was in the property between.

I was wandering if there was a quick, easy and free way of finding out my address history? I suspect I'm being a bit optimistic here but would appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance

:)

Credit files can give you an indication but it depends on how quick you were to update the financial institutions and in turn how quick they were to update the CRAs. I know at my previous address I moved in in May but the CRAs have been first associated with the address in August of the same year.

There is nothing more accurate or formal and so it really has to come down to your own records and/ or memory

I think that if one of my sons asked for help with this, I'd be able to help by searching my emails for when I shared their new addresses with my family. But it would be a bit hit and miss!!!

Its not the end of the world if you what you put down is a month out. I lived in 4 properties in 5 years. I did put down one property I lived from April-Feb infact it was May-Feb. I still got the job.

On another note why would your employer want to know your past address history ? i also had to provide thse details once and i could not come up with an answer why they would want to know

This. I may be a grown up, but the last employment check I did was completed with help from my dear mother! She remembers a lot more of the details of my life than I do...

It isn't the employer who wants to know the addresses. According to the OP it is for completion of a DBS check form.

I am a signatory for disclosures and it is quite common for people not to remember the times etc. I have a number of prompts that I use.

When did you move in to current address - can't remember - ok what age were you? was it summer or winter? close to Christmas, exam time, halloween, you can also think if there were any events, like parents silver wedding or best friends 21st. Just think about good memories or bad that happened in each property. Think about events rather than dates and you will get there eventually.
