perfumed bowl

I've just been given a lovely pottery bowl, hand thrown by a man in Yorkshire (Gods own county). Don't think it has a great monetary value, but it means a lot to me. Only problem is that at some time in it's life it has had some of that chemical pot-pourri stuff in it and it STINKS---really really sweet and artificial. It's been thru the dishwasher four times, and at present is down the garden because the smell is too overpowering to have it in the house! Please please has anyone got a way of getting rid of the pong on my lovelt bowl?

Try sprinkling some bicarb in it and letting it sit for a bit? If it works for pongy trainers, it's gotta be worth a shot!0

Hi powershopper,
I'll second what Ytaya has said but maybe make a paste from the bicarb (add some water) and paint it over the bowl. It should absorb the smell and as it dries out will drop to the bottom of the bowl.
