Honorariums

I currently am paid £250 per month as an honorarium by my church for carrying out the treasurers role and administration role. Do I need to register this with the tax office? I am not employed anywhere else

I'd say that if this is your only taxable income, then no. However, remember that some benefits are taxable, so keep on top of the situation.

I'd also say that the church was possibly operating in a grey area, and this might be employment, whereas they are probably seeing it as a volunteer role.

If this £3k a year takes your total taxable income over th current threshold then you will need to declare it.

Are you doing more than 9/10 hours a week? if so they may be breaking nma laws (thats if the rules apply to honorariums)
If you are on any benefits you will also need to declare your income.
