  • I don't have a degree and was accepted today, so don't let that put you off.
  • Hi All

I realise that I need to provide two referees - no problem, but do these need to be written testimonials or just two names and phone numbers?

    Thanks

Just names and numbers. That is all I provided and I have been successful.

I submitted my AQA paperwork last night but i'm not holding out much hope.
The test was quite hard especailly the first question. Will apply for Ask later.
Do you know how long it will take for someone at AQA to put me out of my misery (so to speak!!)

Hi everyone, can anyone offer some help plz.

I have just been offered a position as an AQA researcher and i'm just wondering how you go about paying tax. I am dreading getting a huge bill at the end of the year and not being able to pay it. And in addition to that there seems to be 2 different types of NI tax to pay. Can anyone offer any advice on the best way to pay the tax and how it all works. I'm not very good when it comes to taxes.

    Thanks,

    Hx

hiya - the best thing it to put some money aside each month for tax. If you put about a fifth away then that will be a big chunk towards it. You will need to register as self employed which only takes a couple of minutes and then they send you the tax return form . I've just registered to do it online and I'm waiting for an activation code.

If it is your only employment, call the NI people. Self employed pay £2.20 a week Class 2 and it is easy to set up a direct debit for monthly or quarterly.

If it is a second income also call the NI people and ask for a certificate of excemption for Class 2 payments. I can't remember the exact amount but until you earn an extra £4,000+ a year you are excempt from paying extra NI contributions.

I'm no expert, but that's the bits I've learnt so far.

Wow i didnt know this sort of vacancies exist. I take it i missed the UK vacancy.

Is there any other companies that offer a similar vacancy.

I would like to do something like this. It would fit in ideally with what i do already
