HELP wonga fraud

Just received letter regarding a wonga loan I have never taken out. Managed to speak to them (which seems to be an achievement given other posts) and they are investigating.

I have monthly equifax subscription and have received no alerts and having logged on there are no records of wonga search or credit agreement with them. There website and other posts on here suggests that they do credit checks and it should appear on equifax.

Do I need to check other credit agencies? Surely it should show on equifax? Anyone know!?!:D

Yes, I saw what you were doing so +1.
  • Hold on, you actually give Equifax money? Thats worse than giving money to Wonga.

This trye of fraud happens way too much, and it must be very distressing to the victims.

There surely must be a way to check that the bank details supplied by the applicant are actually in the applicants name.

Maybe first time payday loan customers should be required to scan and send the debit card they intend to use to repay the loan with the application, this would confirm the account number/sort code.

Just make sure Wonga don't take money out of your bank account. There was an item on watchdog last week on this very topic only those involved didn't know anything until the money had been taken by Wonga. They got there money back eventually.
