Any suggestions for a good free/cheap Health and Safety course please?

Hi
Thanks for all the replies. I am in FT employment and am looking to try and get into facilities management. I know H&S is a big part of that, but all the courses seem so expensive. I can not see anything for either subject at a local college and all the online ones seem so expensive.
I will have a proper read through of the suggestions now, I didn't want anyone to think that I wasn't interested in your comments.

Have a look into 24+ advanced learning loans for courses above level 3, best to speak to either your local FE College about options or someone in the position you want to be in about how they got there.0

It sounds to me as though it would be a really good idea to work out if there are specific courses that employers of Facilities managers look for. Do you have an ideas about this yet? Are there specific titles of courses that are recognised in this field from what you can tell? You could consider contacting employers who are currently advertising vacancies for these roles to find out.
I’ve just been having a look at the National Careers Service job profile for a Facilities manager to see if that can give us any pointers. The ‘Entry Requirements’ section mentions a number of different qualifications that could be recognised – have a look and see what you think. In relation to health and safety qualifications, it mentions both NEBOSHand IOSH qualifications.
The ‘Opportunities’ section, which is near the bottom of the profile, might also come in handy when it comes to searching for vacancies.
Once you have a clearer idea about the title of course that you’d like to take, you could use a course search, such as Hot Courses to see what’s available in your area. It’s my understanding though that a lot of these courses tend to be run by private training providers, which might explain the prices that you’ve seen.
I hope you manage to find something that suits your budget and the time you have available.
Good luck

If you are a member of a trade union, they usually run courses for members and reps, free of charge.0
