You've been scammed and I don't think that you'll get anywhere with it. It's easy to prove that you've been scammed due to the timescales and several people scammed at the same time but knowing paypal they wont give a toss. You could try sending something recorded as long as it's within 7 days of payment from the "buyer" but with no confirmend address I don't see where you'd send it to or how paypal would accept it anyway as you're only covered if you send to confirmed address. You've also got to consider your family, I know this sounds a bit dramatic but we already know that this guy can easily come to your house and is a criminal. I personally would think very carefully about what he could do. I wouldn't like to let him get away with it but just be careful, it's a bit different if it was someone in Nigeria.

Have you thought of taking the funds out of paypal and closing the account and opening a new one so they can't chargeback, not even sure if it'd work but just a suggestion!

If he is still trading under ebay on that name then I would be nice to know it in case he tries it on with any of us.

    Its

    Leedsmanraj06

There is a Leedsmanraj05 & Leedsmanraj07 probably the same guy as well. All joined 12 May

I will be checking as much as possible to see if he's bidding on other stuff so I can warn the sellers

His feedback may be private, but we can still see the items he has won - http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidItems&userid=Leedsmanraj06&completed=1&all=1&rows=25&sort=3

It's simply a case of looking at the sellers "Feedback Left for Others" tab.

"SCAMMER, EBAYERS BEWARE, TRIED RIPPING ME OFF WITH A PLAYSTATION 3" by kellyg2785

"Bought item but never paid, ebayers beware!" by g1ffa

"great communication - collected and paid same day - will deal with again" by adrianb789 - i guess they will be going through the same problems as yourself?

"Bid and won but never paid, he bid & won xbox 360 at same time- EBAYERS BEWARE" by lukeeve2005 - subsequently mutually withdrawn

WIth any luck they will be struck off eBay, and your neg will be removed under the 90 day rule, but it probably wont help your paypal claim. I dont think the Special Delivery trick would have worked in this case as the address will have been unconfirmed.

If Paypal want to put so much emphasis on Seller Protection only on confirmed addresses, then sellers should have the option to refuse payment by unconfirmed buyers.

Yes, I've seen the list of the other 9 sellers, already been in contact with most of them. Apart from me and adrianb789 (who is as mad as hell). The others had sussed him out and not lost any goods.
They've been reporting him to ebay as well. He's still there though.

You do have the option to refuse payment if an unconfirmed address is used. There's even an option when filing an unpaid item dispute to say that the buyer is trying to pay with an unconfirmed address.

Unfortunately most people that only buy the odd thing off ebay don't understand all this and even though I explain to them in great detail they still say they don't understand why I'm refusing payment??? I tell them that I'm not refusing payment but I need to send to a confirmed address otherwise I can be scammed. They then buy the same thing from someone else and I lose out on another sale! Oh well, hopefully I wont get scammed ever! One day I might sell something and get paid from a confirmed address too!

The confirmed address thing with Paypal is really annoying me.
I can see the purpose of it to an extent, but it's the way that Paypal happily take the money and then put all the responsibility on the seller to meet the requirements that they have put in place that gets me.
I don't see why Paypal can't insist that all UK or US buyers have to confirm their address.
As many countries apparently can't get confirmed addresses, it makes a mockery of the whole system. I'm paying the same fees, or sometimes more if there is a cross border charge, and yet Paypal won't give me the benefits of their Seller Protection Policy. If anything goes wrong, the money is taken straight out of my account.
Also, they don't make it clear to buyers, so I have had lots of problems where a buyer wants it sent to a work address or as a gift to someone else. Some people are understanding, but others just don't get it. One buyer emailed me after I'd told him this, to say, "I can confirm that the address that I told you is correct." Completey missing the point.

I'm going to make a concerted effort to get as many of my buyers as possible, particularly overseas, to pay by bank transfer.

I'm just so glad that I let my PayPal account lapse and they blocked it for me!
I always email Sellers to ask if I can pay by cheque, postal order or bank transfer if they only list PayPal.

I work for a non-retail bank and it raised a few eyebrows when PayPal got FSA authorisation so easily.

What can you do if you are at loggerheads with PayPal? Complain to the FSA. It's easy, simple and costs you nothing except a little of your time. The icing on the cake is that PayPal gets charged £400 by the FSA for each complaint whether upheld or not. Maybe when enough of you complain to the FSA and their fees start to pinch, then maybe PayPal will bring in some common sense and safer systems.
