Me too. Every since mine were babies they've had the same as us (mashed up until they had teeth) and if they don't eat it, it's bread and butter. I'd like to say it's stopped them being fussy but it hasn't.

But they do eat proper food unlike some of our visitors who engage me in long conversations where they repeat the sentence "Well, have you got any ..." and I say "No, I'm sorry I haven't". The any is followed by chicken nuggets/spaghetti hoops/mini this and kiddie that/Sunny D ...

:rotfl: ... sounds familiar...I had some friends kids round during the easter hols...the youngest came out to the kitchen and said..."I'm really hungry for crisps" to which I replied, "I don't buy crisps anymore - sorry".......he looked gobsmacked and said in a very shocked voice "but what do your kids do for food now then??" The thought of life without crisps eh!

I bought Tesco's value wheat biscuits too but then I switched to Tesco's organic bran as I was on a diet/healthy eating run. I then switched to the Tesco healthy living bran (Organic was dearish). Now I've reached my weight target and I'm increasing my calories I had planned to go back to the Value wheat biscuits. I priced this up in cost and calories and the HL bran is slightly cheaper (if you buy 1kg boxes) and lower calories (and better for you).

Why. The wheat biscuits absorb a lot of milk, the bran doesn't.

  • I plan to start my May grocery challenge today as it's payday. I will need help along the way!!

I originally spent £350+ on grocery a month. This was caused by ready meals and treats etc. After reading these boards I have realised the extent of my overspending ( in all area's).

    I plan to spend £60 on week 1, £55 on week 2, £50 on week 3 and £45 on week 4. I get paid 4 weekly.

This will give me another £140 to throw at my debt.

Can I say reading this board makes it fun and not a drudge to stop spending money.

  • Hi

There are 2 adults, 2 older children who eat more than the adults, and an 11 year old.

I've done a menu plan for the next two weeks and plan to stick to it. I plan to cook one evening meal for everyone. At the moment we all eat different things due to work etc. I have made the children take packed lunches instead of having money for the canteen.
I will also be taking a lunchbox. This will save me £20 a week in sandwiches and coffees! (Even more to clear the cc's)

    This is fun

i want to start reducing our monthly bill its normally £160 for 2 adults, 1 toddler and a baby that doesn't include any baby milk, nappies or wipes its just the shopping itself. Would it be cheaper to go to local butcher for chicken etc? plus how can i find out about what vegetables are in season at what times of year?
Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts

More than likely. I try to get mine from the market as they are not only cheaper than the supermarket, but much bigger too.

I work on the theory that if it's cheap in the greengrocers, it's in season! Now that I go in there regularly he always tells me what's good & casually suggests an alternative if I'm hovering around something he consider to be poor quality/value for money.
