Best deferred bond

Options
I have £12,000 in a freinds life deferred investment bond I have held since 1992. It has done very well. I now have a further £15-20k to invest and have contacted fl who advise I can add to the bond with no charges and even convert it to an income later if I want . Would you advise this is a good medium risk place to invest this as it would still be accessable? This avoids consulting a financial advisor angle encurring charges for advice ?

Although it would pay a commission to the original agent or to Friends if the agent no longer exists and that commission would be reflected in product charges. Product charges that could very easily be higher than modern plans.
