Halifax, TSB, Bank of Scotland? Are they offering bascially the same thing?

Hi All,

I am a first time buyer and I have done a google search where I found Halifax, TSB and Bank of Scotland may offer some mortgages that I want.

Question is:

I clicked on mortgage button on 'Bank of Scotland' website and was then directed to Halifax. Then I googled and found out that Bank of Scotland/Halifax/TSB are basically the same thing.

Then why do they offer mortgages separately and with different rates?

Thanks,
Deisler

So that means if I get the mortgage from Halifax then I can go Bank of Scotland Branch for contact if needed?

The thing is there is no Halifax branch at all within 30miles from where I live.... this could be painful...

Branches are now mostly sales outlets.

Any help or advice you want on an existing mortgage is likely to be phone-based.
