Surely this can't be right...?

Sorry if this has been asked before - I did look!
I have just spoken to the Pensions Service. My 65th birthday is on 15th May. They have sent me a letter telling me what my state pension will be - from 17th May.
I phoned to ask why I was losing over £50 for the 15th and 16th. "Oh, that's because we pay on a Friday". "So, if I had been born on the previous Staurday, I would have lost a whole week's pension?" "Correct!"
Like I said, surely this can't be right?

I have a friend whose 65th birthday was on 11 April - his first pension payment ( weekly in arrears apparently) was on 23rd.0

Ah, so maybe they will pay me for two days on 17th and weekly thereafter? I'll let you know.0 -

I have just checked with him - he says he received a standard week's pension as advised on his pension statement from DWP - don't get your hopes up!0 -
