AN Paymentcare

I took out an paymentcare in 2005 and have continued to pay until last week.
My Abbey mortgage ended in 2006 when I moved house.
Only recently I have found out that the cover only applies to abbey mortgages.
I have not had any correspondence from them so have had to assume I was covered.
I admit to being a bit laid back financially, but I feel that
AN paymentcare have a duty of care to its customers and could have sent some literature to my new address.
Being that both products are from the same company I expected them to know my current address.
The point - I have paid a lot of money out that I would like back.
If the mortgage no longer exists - what exactly have AN paymentcare been insuring ?
Look forward to your replies...

Most lenders tell you to check your insurance when you move mortgages. They never used to though. So, you have to hope yours is before that.Being that both products are from the same company I expected them to know my current address.
Sharing of logos does not make them from the same company. Data protection act actually makes sharing of info difficult in scenarios like this as many of the banks insurance arms have no access to the banking information. If the mortgage no longer exists - what exactly have AN paymentcare been insuring ?
Your failure to control your finances effectively. You should have been more careful. However, in most cases, when you put your case to them nicely, they will refund the premiums from the point they no longer had risk coverage. Don't go in with all guns blazing as you are looking for goodwill here. In most cases they will give it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thanks for the speedy reply.
I have just contacted customer support and was assured that the agreement was portable and would cover my current mortgage even though it isn't with the Abbey...
I have asked for a copy of the T&Cs from the date at which the policy was taken out.
When I enter "an paymentcare" into google one of the results is the keyfacts doc, which clearly states that to be eligible I must (amongst other things) be paying or about to pay an Abbey mortgage.
Not sure which is correct ?
Any Ideas...

Most MPPI is portable with different lenders. There are exceptions but if they say it is then there is no reason to think otherwise. When I enter "an paymentcare" into google one of the results is the keyfacts doc, which clearly states that to be eligible I must (amongst other things) be paying or about to pay an Abbey mortgage.
That is at point of sale. Remember that Abbey National products could only be retailed by Abbey National staff. So, references to AN mortgages would be logical. It doesnt mean it can ONLY apply to AN mortgages though.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
