Mortgage and Divorce

I current have a friend who is getting divorced.

Her partner is making her sell their property even though she wants to keep it. (difficult to explained and details are not required)

Is it possible she can put the house up for sale and buy the house herself without him finding out.

Is there a secret buyer option?
what would the implications be?

The ex quite rightly wishes to remove themselves from the mortgage. Given this, difficult to see why they would be bothered who "buys" the property. Is the issue that you partner will struggle to finance the purchase.
  • No they can finance the property on their own but the partner is not happy about the split and is forcing the sale. Just being selfish really but causing a big problem.

Forcing a sale benefits no one. As the costs involved are considerable. So why not just arrange to buy the other partner out and be above board with the whole matter.
