Really Silly Question....

Hi Everyone,
I know this is going to seem really silly but I just wanted to ask someone.

I have been working out for 3 months now and am attending teh gym every other day and focusing on a really intense fitness plan. I have been quite overweight and I am finally seeing my figure changing and developing more muscle and less fat.

However, over the last wee while I have developed an indent running vertically down the top of my abdomen. From the bottom of my ribs to my belly button.
Is this muscle or could it be a hernia or something like that?

It doesnt hurt but I still have some fat on my tummy so I didnt think if would be muscle.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

Firstly you can't build muscle and lose fat at the same time - it's one or the other. You need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight and a calorie surplus to gain weight (including lean weight such as muscle).

It could be muscle that you're noticing due to less fat in that area. Does it hurt? You should get it checked out if it's worrying you; if not by a doctor then maybe just by a personal trainer at the gym.

Bizarre, I just noticed exactly the same thing last night myself - I'm in the same boat as you, losing weight and building muscle. I just was leaning over to pick something up in front of the mirror and noticed. Not all that pretty. But I don't have any sense that there's anything wrong or hurting or whatever.

Now the question is does anyone know what you can do about it?

It's muscle, or rather the gap between your abs becoming visible. The very beginnings or a six-pack, in a way.
    Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
    House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY
