Hi All,
Just an update on my situation. After being in £15000 of debt 5 yrs ago, im now down to the last £850!!!! Yey!!! Its being a long struggle, fighting with collectors for agreements, most of which Id say have being very helpful. Im hoping to pay the remaining debt by August so be debt free my xmas shopping.
The only real company that caused me problems was Welcome Finance, they shouted at me down the phone, harrassed me on the phone, didnt obey my contact requests. They soon learnt when I contacted the ombudsman and won £300 in compensation which cleared them.
I now own no credit cards, only 1 long term loan as stated. I must say though, I would like to build my credit score back up though not sure how!!
All I can say to all who are really struggling is bare with it, face the truth, dont try and hide as it gets worse, trust me, ive had days of tears, horrid thoughts etc etc. My friend made me see sense and and seeked help. Dont bother with the companies that charge to set up debt management, do it yours self, save £30 a month or say, I learnt that after 3 years. That £1000 could of cleared a creditor. Most are willing to help, there not there to cause shame or upset. They do want to help.
My next role is to try and win back my bank account fees that I was told would help me 3 years ago £15 for an account, I never used or needed any of the extra's. Wish me look.
Regards
Craig

Wow!! Congratulations on doing so well.
You've nearly made it and learned lots along the way. Makes me a bit sad - 7 years ago I took out a consolidaton loan for £15,000 - now look at me:rotfl::rotfl:
Still hopefully in 2 years I will be in your position!!!
Well done :T:T:T0 -
Well done!
Re: building up your credit score, if your debts are five years old, does that mean any defaults/CCJ's are also five years old or are they more recent? If your defaults/CCJ's are five years old, they'll drop off your credit report next year, so not too long to wait. What will your verse be?

I'm guessing only you can see the contested default.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong! What will your verse be?

Absolutely in awe of what you've done! Well done! Need to sort myself out and was wondering about the possibility of getting a consolidation loan for about £15000. How do you get a consolidation loan if you have bad credit rating though?? Any helpful suggestions?

Thanks0 -
Update from my post #7.
My debt is now £173.
That will be paid next month.
Regarding a consolidation loan, F40runner, my advice is DON'T.
If I hadn't refinanced (twice) I'd have been DF about 5 years ago.0
