Recruitment Agency Question

I've been placed in an "ongoing temp position" by an agency.

They are now advertising a HR assistant position, which requires no experience, but strong computer skills (I passed agency computer tests before with excellent scores).

Was wondering whether my current employer would be made aware I was showing interest in another job with the agency - or whether it would become an issue when renewing my contract (which is done monthly?)

Thanks,

Can't see it as a problem, is there any chance of the current placement becoming permanent? Is the new position a permanent job or just a temporary one, rather than on going?
