Thinking about Part time study

Hi, I recently had a conversation with a friend that suggested I take up a part time course with the open university. It feels like a sensible thing to do given my situation, but i'm unsure if it will affect my benefits.
I have been unemployed for a few years apart from the odd bit of temp work, so I'm concerned that taking on an undergraduate degree part time will affect my benefits as I would have to apply for a tuition fee loan in order to do the course. I am on the standard benefits for someone looking for work, so JSA, housing benefit and council tax benefit.

As long as the training is not over 16 hours, then it will not affect benefits0

Student loans to pay fees will have no effect on means tested benefits.0
